The Department of Water and Environmental Engineering offers courses in water supply, water quality control, wastewater treatment and disposal, solid waste management, public health engineering, irrigation and drainage engineering, dam engineering and management, and water resource management. Courses are taught through class contact lectures and tutorials, laboratory work and industrial attachment. The courses form part of the respective undergraduate awards in Civil Engineering with specialization in Water and Environmental Engineering. and development of curricula for masters and doctoral degrees are at an advanced stage. Recent discussions of possible partnering with a Belgian university in water research if successful will enhance the quality of the courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Students carry out a supervised research project in their final year of study.
