Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment(FEBE)
The School of Civil and Resource Engineering (SCRE), was established in January 2014 to offer cutting edge professional and academic training in line with the university motto of ‘Education and Training for the Real World’. The school’s mission is: “to be a centre of excellence in learning, creativity and enterprise, promoting civil and resource engineering development, operation, maintenance and environmental sustainability for the good of the society”. It is the SCRE idea that creative and innovative imagination for present and future civil and resource engineering can only be achieved through collaboration with industry and public participation. Engineering professionals produced by the school are hands-on personnel who work towards the well-being of society.
The school’s industry-driven research initiatives are transformative, and are designed to solve real-world problems. The programs are specifically designed to enable the students and lecturers to develop concepts, explore new knowledge in lecture rooms, laboratories and workshops, collaborate with industry, and produce innovative designs to meet the demands of the real world
The total number of students in the school is about 1,200 in four departments, which offer professional degrees and diplomas. Led by top intellectuals and professionals, the school runs hands-on programs that focus on building individuals with intellectual (knowledge), professional (discretionary) and technical (application) competencies.
